Chemical Peels

Chemical peels may sound scary, but they don’t have to be. Chemical peels are compounds derived from natural sources which once applied, impart the skin with specific healing qualities and simultaneously cause the top layers of skin to push up and off, resulting in healthy, gorgeous skin. For example, some compounds are incredibly hydrating and can help those who suffer from dry and sensitive skin. Others are highly beneficial in the treatment of acne and can help with oil production and breakouts. All types of peels are uniquely capable of rejuvenating and transforming your skin. Each chemical peel treatment includes a post procedure home kit for proper after care.

(Please stop the use of highly exfoliating products such as Alpha or Beta Hydroxy acids, Retinoids (Retinol, Retin-A, Tretinoin, Tazorac) at least 3 days prior to any chemical peel procedure.)

Things to Know about Chemical Peels in Denver

At Skincare 5280, we use a highly respected and effective medical grade formula created by SkinCeuticals. SkinCeuticals Micropeels are perfect for those looking to have progressive, gentle, skin-correcting chemical peels rather than a potentially traumatic, deep peel. Suitable for most skin types, SkinCeuticals Micropeels offer skin changing solutions that gently create stronger, clearer and healthier skin. As your skin adjusts and becomes stronger over time, your Aesthetician may change to a different type of peel or variation of the treatment protocol. This ensures that you get customizable treatment specifically for your individual skin needs.
Chemical peels remove dead skin cells, increase cell renewal, smooth texture, fade hyper-pigmentation, even-out skin tone, diminish fine lines, firm and tone skin, minimize enlarged pores, can reduce oil, can promote hydration and improves overall skin health.

Immediately after
a light chemical peel, your skin may appear slightly red and blotchy. This usually fades within a few hours. Mineral makeup can be worn immediately after the treatment. It is important to treat your skin gently for 24-48 hours post procedure. All of the above treatments include a post-procedure kit.

Light peels
are progressive in nature, and although they do not typically cause visible trauma, they are very effective at gently transforming your skin over time; they are usually performed in a series of 4 to 6, about 2 – 4 weeks apart for optimal results. Once you have reached the desired results, you can have light peels performed as part of your maintenance routine.

Mid-Depth peels
can be compared to lifting weights. You want to start out with low weights, then as you get stronger, move into higher weights. Typically, mid-depth peels induce mild to moderate, visible sloughing between the 3rd and 5th day after treatment. Mid-depth peels are perfect for people looking to reduce lines and wrinkles, smooth out texture, treat active acne, reduce oil production and improve overall skin health. Mid-depth peels are usually performed in a series of 4 to 6, about 2 – 4 weeks apart for optimal results.
